Fostering learning in a positive, exciting way.
Serving grades kindergarten–5 in Thurston County

Band & Orchestra

South Bay 5th graders have the option to join band or orchestra and learn to play an instrument of their choice!

Band & Orchestra meet several days weekly during specific class time, and families can hear what they've been working on at concerts held throughout the year. Instrument selection and sign-ups take place in the fall, and information will be sent directly to families.

Classes start Monday, September 16 and meet every school day except late starts from 12:50–1:20 pm.

Ms. Gage and Mr. Johnson will visit the 5th grade classes on Monday, September 9 to provide an introduction to band and orchestra and give a brief demonstration of the instruments. Written material will be sent home with students at that time regarding instrument selection and the process for signing up.

Instruments can be rented from local vendors. Families with financial need may be able to use a district-owned instrument. Please contact the band/orchestra directors if financial costs are a barrier to participation.

The district will be hosting a rental event for NTPS band students at Timberline High School Friday, September 13, from 5:00–7:00 pm and Saturday, September 14, from 9:00 am–noon. Local instrument rental businesses will be available to help band students get an instrument and any needed care and maintenance supplies.
